Receiveda rural education, later attended Eastern Illinois State Normal school at Charleston, Illinois, for some time, then taught school 7 years. Aside from farming in 1903, he began buying and shipping live stock amd raising thorough-bred Duroc Jersey swine which occupation he continues to the prestn time. He has been very successsful in raising Duroc Jersey swine, having exhibited many times with stron competition at the Coles County Fair at Charleston and at the Cumberland County Fair at Greenup and always succeeded in winning his share of the prizes.
